Sticking To Your Health Related New Year’s Resolutions

Just about everybody vows to make grandiose plans for the new year, focused primarily on how they are going to get their lives together and become more healthy. However, for the most part, people fail to stick to their goals and give up on their new years resolutions fairly rapidly. Sticking to a healthy plan for the new year does not have to be as difficult as it may seem, and with a little bit of diligence, just about anyone can keep and maintain their goals for the upcoming year.

keeping new years resolutionsWhen it comes to attaining and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the bulk of the focus should be on regular diet and exercise, but it is important to set goals for yourself that are realistic. A ton of people write down that they are going to lose a massive amount of weight, or change their diets to completely eliminate foods that are typically considered unhealthy, but this is not very realistic. One of the biggest aspects of staying on track is picking goals that are well within your bounds. For instance, if you have not been working out for years and want to start to get back in shape, rather than planning to hit the gym five days a week for an hour or more, a better and more realistic goal would be to aim for walking for thirty minutes three times a week.

At the same time, when changing your diet, it may be a good idea to start to slowly knock out foods that are bad, or simply replace snack foods with a healthy snack, such as a fruit or vegetable and work your way up. One of the biggest things that ruins individuals diets, is the fact that when we start eating healthy foods, it is only natural that the body is going to release the toxins that have been built up from eating poorly. These toxins are going to inevitably make a person feel poorly for a while, and although this is a great thing in the long run, it can deter a person from eating health.

Making a resolution to become more healthy for the new year is without a doubt the first step, but in order to stay with your goals, you should always take into account where you are currently at in life. Writing down your goals, writing out a plan, and consistently checking in with that plan is the best course of action to staying on your path to a better and healthier you.
